The Halifax Warrior Factory is actually just opposite the Hipperholme Grammar School and is only a couple hundred metres up Denholme Gate Road from Hipperholme lights. It is easily accessible by foot, car and the traffic lights are also on bus routes from Brighouse, Halifax and Bradford.
We originally started the club in Halifax at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School but in 2009 and we moved to our current full time venue in Hipperholme. The building used to be a gym called Shapers and although it was pretty run down, we have lots of help from our members to renovate it. At the time we only taught Taekwondo but over the years we have had Thai boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club at the Warrior Factory too.
We currently teach our young children’s martial arts programme (Dragons). Taekwondo and Ju jitsu. The family Taekwondo classes are very popular and the Ju Jitsu is great for any teens or adults looking to learn an effective form of self-defence.
As well as the small private car park there is also plenty of roadside parking. If parents want to drop their children off and go for something to eat, they have the option of visiting the bar/restaurant over the road or two different takeaways. Within seconds walking distance. There is also a Coop and small Tescos within a 5 minute walk.
Inside the Hipperholme Martial Arts centre we have male and female toilets as well as a waiting area for parents. Here, parents can sit comfortably and watch their children’s martial arts classes on 50″ TVs linked to a high resolution CCTV camera in the training room. As well as the main training room downstairs, we also have a smaller area for private small group sessions upstairs.
Our Martial Arts Hipperholme Centre centre specialises in teaching family and children’s martial arts. The children start off in our 3-4 year old Dragons classes and then progress up to the 5-6 year olds. Somewhere between the ages of 6-7 the children try out one of our Junior Taekwondo classes.
If the parents of the children moving up to Taekwondo are keen to train with their children, we have family classes where the whole family from 6 years upwards can training together.
