Looking for martial arts in Halifax?
If you have been looking for martial arts classes in Halifax, Hipperholme and Brighouse for your family or children, you have come to the right place. Our Halifax martial arts centre was officially opened in 2009 by Olympian Sarah Stevenson and we have been teaching Ju Jitsu and Taekwondo to families in the area ever since. After starting in Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School, the club then opened its first full-time martial arts centre in the old gym called Shapers in Hipperholme, Halifax. The unit is a standalone building that is ours full time and has its own dedicated car park with a capacity of around 14 cars.
The main aim of setting up the Halifax Warrior Factory venue was to provide a central place to teach families martial arts in Halifax. Built off the success of the original club at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School (started around 2003), the Halifax martial ats club was formed as a Community Interest Club that exists to serve its members. Even though we operate as a ‘not for profit’, we provide a professional service that ensures the future of the club for years to come.
While our martial arts classes are a good form of exercise, they have so many other benefits. Phill Payne started teaching martial arts in 1996 and over the last 10 year has acquired both a BSc and MSc degree in Sports Coaching through Leeds Beckett University. Our Martial Arts programmes are the cumulation of years of study and practice.
While we do have Taekwondo students that perform at high-level international competitions, we are mostly known for our family-centric community. Our mission is to ‘Develop good health and well-being through person-centred martial arts coaching’. The physical and mental health and wellbeing of our members is our number 1 priority.

Want to get started at our Halifax Martial Arts Centre but have a question?
New students can start in our classes at any time so you won’t be the only beginner. You will start in our foundation classes along side other beginners at a similar level.
Just like you, everyone black belt was once a white belt and everyone had a first session. Obviously we cannot guarantee you will get to Black Belt, but if you train consistently and try your best, you will get there eventually.
Walking through the doors for your first class is the hardest part of your journey to Black Belt and beyond. We are a friendly club and we are ready and eager to support you on your journey.
You pay for sessions on a monthly basis by a Direct Debit that you can cancel anytime. If you of your child no longer wants to continue training, you can just cancel it at your bank.
The cost of our classes are between £4.00 and £7.50 a session (Paid monthly by Direct Debit). These monthly payments also include access to the Warrior Factory online training portal. This allows you to supplement your ‘in person’ training at the Halifax Warrior Factory venue with some training at home
If your children are 6 years or older, you and your children can attend our family Taekwondo classes. As a family martial arts centre, we have a long history of working with families in the local area. In fact, we have quite a few black belt families.
We have students between the ages of 3 and 63 training in our Halifax Martial Arts centre. Age is just not a barrier to martial arts training given the right environment. As the martial arts journey is a personal one, we make allowances for members that started a little later in life.
